The Beauty of Middle School

Every single week I meet with 2 different groups of middle school girls, 1 in Apex & 1 in North Raleigh.

I believe with my entire heart that we are raising up a generation that will change the world.

Every single week I am blown away by ALL of these girls.

Every single week I am challenged to help them discover their faith, to dig into scripture and think about what God is teaching them.

This week has been extra special.

My North Raleigh group has been meeting for 2 years & my Apex group has been meeting for three weeks. Y’all these girls are amazing. One of the apex girls, Jessica, texts me every week about how excited she is to read scripture & how she just loves meeting together. Another one of the girls has read 14 books of the Bible with me (Real talk 14 BOOKS!).

Be still my heart y’all.

In North Raleigh we have been going through the Nicene Creed & what we believe.

After Bible study one of girls texted me this-

I love everything that I’m learning & for the first time today I was genuinely excited to share everything I had learned & I think I’m beginning to understand why anyone would dedicate their life to Jesus.

I’ve been around Christians & the Bible my entire life but I didn’t ever understand the point I guess? So now I’m finally beginning to understand how much Jesus loves each & every person on the planet & His love is unimaginably huge & He won’t ever stop loving us & we really are his children & Jesus really did sacrifice something for us on the cross & He’s not just a “man in the sky” like He is present every single day of our lives & I can say now that His presence is always with us & that seems crazy (& a lil creepy) like that proves how great his love is for us &  He showed His love to us in so many ways like in creation (He cared about us enough to create us in HIS image) & then on the cross (He freaking died for us because of his amazing love for us & the mercy & grace he showed us on the cross is incomprehensible)

In the Apex group we are reading through John, today we talked about chapters 3 & 4.

Want to know what the Apex girls learned?

John 3:9- The Samaritan woman said to him,”How is it that you, a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a woman of Samaria? (For Jew have no dealings with Samaritans.)”

Abby: “It’s crazy how their has always been separation.”

Julianna: “We come across a lot of different people in life- Jesus calls us to be kind to ALL.”

Jessica: “If someone asks me if I should be friends with people that are different from me I say…Of course be friends with people that are different, so that we can show them LOVE & change a persons life because of love.”

John 3:14- But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Jessica: “Jesus fulfills us.”

Kya: “Look at how powerful Jesus is!”

These middle school girls ask hard, good questions.

These middle school girls challenge me, they help me grow, they encourage me.

These middle school girls are one of the best parts of my week & one of the best parts of my life.

These middle school girls are going to do MIGHTY Kingdom work.

Parents, middle school is hard so keep on loving your sons & daughters well.

Leaders in churches, don’t give up on middle schoolers & keep pointing them to Jesus.

Middle schoolers, we are cheering for YOU & are so FOR you.

High schoolers, be an example for the middle schools & let them know that you are FOR them.

Adults keep asking middle schoolers their opinions, help them grow into kind adults that love people & love God well. It takes a village to raise a child, let’s build some solid villages for the next generation.

S/O to my high school girls Abby & Piper- thanks for investing in these girls with me 🙂
